Valuable competition experience was gained by a number of Brecon High school track and field athletes this weekend ; Congratulations to Year 9 student Harvey Parsons who showed his versatilely picking up a gold and a silver medal in the high jump and hurdles at the Welsh inter regional track and field finals yesterday. Unfortunately due to untimely heavy downpours and technical faults Harvey’s pole-vault event was cancelled by the chief field judge.
Year 7 student Rory Orton picked up a gold medal for the East Wales region in the 800m and secured a new personal best time in the process.
Glesni Powell just missed out on the medals in the 800m and long jump but did well against a highly talented field of 16 other athletes in her heats.
A record turnout of over 980 athletes battled it out at the Penlan track across the age groups from u13 right through to the senior age groups.
Bhs students got to see some impressive new records set out on the track too to round of a good day of athletics.
