Brecon high school xc teams made the long journey north to Newtown to run in testing conditions.
The extreme cold , mud and mixture of hail and sleet on the day meant the event was more of a battle against the elements than anything else.
Performances were mixed as most competitors did not have 12 mm xc spikes which further hampered all runner.
However Beth Nelson had her best run this season, powering to the front and crossing line in fourth and qualifying for the county team and despite bad feet, Girls team captain Glesni Powell came in 11th and should receive her call up for the county. Chloe jones had the benefit of spikes and came in 18th out of 72 girls in the year 8/9 girls race which was pleasing.
The boys teams were led by Isaac pierce who came in 31st of the year 8/9 boys with Charlie Harries, Dan Gilbert and Patrick DeVenny billinge all running well to finish inside the top 40 out of the 90 odd year 8/9 boys. Year 7 boys led the year 7s team ahead of Nyle Slade who was suffering with a hip injury. All the other athletes got round and won their own personal battles against the harsh weather.
Thank you everyone for turning out on such a tough day to be running; Very well done
