A Welsh Youth Parliament will be established in 2018 with the first, national online elections for 11-18 year olds taking place between 05-25 of November. This youth led body, will enable 60 Welsh Youth Parliament Members and those they represent to investigate, debate and raise issues that are important to young people in Wales.
We feel passionate about providing varied opportunities for young people to have their voices heard and play an active part in society, therefore may I encourage you to visit the website: www.youthparliament.wales for details of how to take part and what commitment will be required of the first cohort of Welsh Youth Parliament Members (WYPM).

How can you help?
- If your child wishes to stand as a candidate in the first ever online elections for the Welsh Youth Parliament please visit our guidance pages online. www.youthparliament.wales. Those wishing to vote and stand as candidates must be 11 years of age by or on the 31st of August 2018 and must be 17 years of age during the 05-25 November elections, 2018.
- If your child is successful in becoming a Member (WYPM) for one of the 40 constituencies across Wales they will be required to meet other representatives from their area, at certain weekends during the year. They will also be required to attend 2-3 national meetings in Cardiff, which will require them to stay overnight.
- If your child, wishes to vote online and hasn’t yet registered to vote, please visit the website for full registration details. They will need a valid e mail address to register to vote.
- Help promote the Welsh Youth Parliament through any relevant networks you belong to e.g. PTA networks, youth clubs etc. You can also promote the Welsh Youth Parliament through your social media channels @seneddieuenctidcymru @welshyouthparliament
