Welsh Schools Cross country – Brecon pupils produce strong performances

The Welsh Schools XC championships held here in Brecon were blessed with fine , still and sunny conditions which was a bonus for both athletes and spectators alike.
Ellie Cain was on form coming in the 44th out of 133 girls in the u13 race; similarly  Iolo Pierce and Mitchell Davies stormed through the technically challenging course to secure 56th and 57th place out of 132 boys competing.
Next came the u15s with Isaac Pierce and Charlie Harries putting in the hard work over the 4.5km course.
Charlie turned on the afterburners on the last lap to cross the line in 18 minutes 2 seconds and secure 39th palace with Isaac Pierce just 30 seconds behind in 50th place.
Lastly Glesni Powell put in the XC performance of her season so far and covered the 4.5km 2 lap circuit in 22.29 and 23rd place.
Excellent performances by all and these athletes will form the backbone of the larger team for the Powys schools championships in Newtown early in the new year.
