Brecon and Radnor Sports Partnership Sports Awards

This was held at Theatre Brycheiniog on Thursday 19 April having been postponed due to snow in March! After an excellent hot buffet the invited audience had an excellent evening.

The Glamorgan Cricketer  Mark Wallace was Guest speaker and gave an interesting insight into being a Professional Sportsman.

After that the various categories were awarded.

Results of interest to Brecon High School were in the following categories.

Young Sportsperson saw Dan Gilbert in = third place in a highly competitive field, for his prowess in Athletics in race walking. To be nominated alone is  an achievement and reflects his position as number one in Wales.

Year 10 Boys from Brecon High were also part of the S Powys U15 rugby squad nominated for Junior team of the year, coming runners up.

Another ‘famous face’ associated with Brecon High was Mr Northey who, along with team mates, was in the category for Senior Team.

The highlight of the night however was the winner of the Sports Volunteer which went to Mrs Powell for starting Brecon High School’s Gym club and building it up so quickly to give pupils a chance to compete and succeed.

Congratulations to all.
