BHS athletes ran well in the last of the area schools league fixtures at Christ College. Junior girl Hanna Marshall ran strongly to finish 7th with Ellie Cain close behind in 13th. Year 7 athletes Frankie Thompson and Alex O’Connor came in 22nd and 24th respectively, an excellent result given they were up against a large contingent of year 8s and 9s in this race.
Junior boys team captain Isaac Pierce had a fine sprint finish to cross the line first for the boys team in 7th place with his brother Iolo not far behind him in 25th place. Newcomer Mitchell Davies had a storming run to come in 27th with Tom Gilbert 10m behind in 32nd place; Nyle Slade was carrying a lot of lactate in his legs from rugby earlier in the day but dug in to complete the team result in 34th position.
Glesni Powell has been consistent throughout the season and stuck to her task to complete the 4.5km course in 3rd place and Dan Gilbert in his first race as a senior athlete worked hard over the longer 6km course to keep with the much older runners to come in 19th place; well done all.
Isaac Pierce, Ioloo Pierce and Glesni Powell will be competing in the Gwent and combined South East XC championships this Saturday in Pembrey park Llanelli; we wish them good luck in this highly competitive and fiercely contested race.
