The school has a long history of pupils progressing into the Sixth Form at Brecon High School, following the completion of their GCSE’s. The school offers a range of A level subjects, taught by specialist staff on our site. In addition to this, the school is part of the South Powys consortium. This is a group of schools and a College collaboration, which offers a wider range of subjects to study for our pupils. These can be accessed as a Collaborative arrangement (pupils attending lessons virtually and then in person at various points through the term) or via the newly developed e-sgol platform.
The school continues to be successful in enabling pupils to continue with a range of options post 16.
Our Year 12 and 13 students are an important part of the school community as they provide important role models for younger pupils and undertake study at AS and A Level, with most of our students then going on to university.
All pupils, when they join the Sixth Form, will study for the Welsh Baccalaureate as well as their chosen A level or BTEC subjects.
The subjects currently on offer for study at Brecon High School are English Literature, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Design and Technology – Product Design, Drama, Maths, Health & Social & Childcare, Geography and History
Information regarding options and courses is available on the Powys Learning Pathways website http://www.powyslearningpathways.wales/
